*A Day to Bow down and standing tall- 26 Nov Constitution Day of India*
The Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda celebrated Constitution Day with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of national pride on November 26, 2024. The event, organized under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Virendra Singh, was a tribute to the cornerstone of India’s democracy, the Constitution, and its significance in shaping our nation.
The program began with students from both undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA) courses gathering to collectively recite the Preamble of the Constitution, symbolizing their commitment to uphold the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution. This solemn recitation set the tone for the event, emphasizing the importance of remembering and understanding the foundational principles of our democracy.
The faculty members, including Dr. Pooja Dikshit Joshi, Dr. Tehzib Barodawala, Ms. Manjari Nandy, Dr. Gunjan Srivastava, and Mr. Paul Thomas, actively participated, sharing insights about the relevance of the Constitution in contemporary times. Each teacher highlighted a unique aspect of the Constitution, encouraging students to reflect on its role in ensuring social justice and equality.
Students also participated in interactive sessions, presenting their views on various provisions of the Constitution and discussing its dynamic role in addressing the socio-political challenges of modern India. The vibrant discussions showcased their understanding and appreciation of this living document that safeguards the rights of every citizen while promoting collective responsibility.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Head of the Department and the faculty for their active involvement and encouragement. The event reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to fostering constitutional literacy and awareness among its students, empowering them to become informed and responsible citizens.
