Vadodara, October 10, 2025 —
The Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, observed World Mental Health Day with an inspiring message to students and faculty members emphasizing awareness, empathy, and open dialogue about mental well-being.
The session began with a reminder that caring for one’s mind is as essential as caring for one’s goals. Highlighting the theme, faculty members encouraged students to prioritize balance, connection, and courage to express their emotions freely. 🌱
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Virendra Singh urged students to be more vocal about mental health, emphasizing that “talking openly about how we feel is not a sign of weakness but a step towards healing.” He also stressed the importance of creating safe and supportive spaces within academic life.
Adding their perspectives, Dr. Pooja Dikshit Joshi, Ms. Tehzib Barodawala, Ms. Manjari Nandi, and Dr. Gunjan Shrivastava shared effective methods for nurturing mental well-being — including mindful pauses, writing diaries, positive peer interactions, self-compassion practices, developing hobbies, etc. to maintain a healthy state of mind.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by students and faculty to “Break the Stigma — Make Mental Health Our Priority and Kindness Our Habit.”
